Starting in 1979, Jamie Livingston began to take one picture everyday for 18 years. Through these pictures, he chronicled his life, the lives of his friends and the changing city around him. He continued these photos until the day he died in 1997. For the tenth anniversary of his death, two of his friends chronicled the photographs, put them online, and made an exhibition out of them in New York City.
This article relates to what we are learning in Language Arts because this collection of photographs has documented the life of this man and will preserve it even after his death. These images share a theme of life, hardship, and change and, although each photograph is different, they come together to back up this theme. This article also relates to LA because life is a journey. Jamie Livingston has documented the path of his life from the time he was a senior in college to the day he died. From these images we can see the joy and sorrow that everyone goes through, and together they provide insight into the lives of everyone else on earth.

I love hearing about cool outside-of-work things that people do for fun, and I'm sure that Mr. Livingston had a wonderful last eighteen years doing his project. I bet that the pictures he took are not only useful for telling part of his life story, but also as a visual record of New York City and the problems and events that it may have gone through. You're definitely right about how this relates to the topics we are learning now: how simple pictures can express so much and how life is always a journey with who-knows-what happening along the way.
I've heard about something incredibly similar to Jamie Livingston's project, only instead of taking pictures of a variety of subjects, someone had a picture of themself taken everyday for a few years. From the pictures, they could see every little change that occured over the course of time, from teeth straightening by braces to hair growing. Both of these projects are very cool and interesting things. They document the history of a person or a place and show the effect time has on everything.
This is maybe one of the coolest things ever! Wow! I bet he really did capture an amazing amout of emotion and life experiences. By taking one picture everday, an amazing journey could come forth. I think this is a really cool way of learning about the life of someone else. I'm sure the old saying "A pictures worth a thousand words" really applies. For some reason I think this is an incredible idea and it would be amazing to see the photos. I feel like you could learn so much about him and where he's from. What life was like for him and the kind of experiences he had.
I think its absolutely amazing how someone can be so creative like that! Mr. Livingston must have had such an accomplished feeling when he was finished being done with a project that took eighteen years!It's so incredible how he was able to capture his life along with that of New York City. I hope, in th future, more people grow to benefit our society in such a creative way!
